Liverpool and Everton handed Nicolas Pepe update as new team enter transfer race

NICOLAS PEPE’S agent has revealed his client will definitely leave Lille this summer in a huge update for Everton and Liverpool.

Both Liverpool and Everton have been strongly linked with a move for Pepe this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new striker after Daniel Sturridge left at the end of his contract.

However, with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – his attack is stacked.

But that is not the case across the city, where Marco Silva is scratching his head over his striker predicament.

With the likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin failing to fire in 20 goals each a year, the Portuguese coach is desperate for a net-busting forward.

It has led the Toffees to an audacious move for Pepe – who was sensational for Lille last season.

The 24-year-old scored 23 times in all competitions, also laying on a further 12 assists for his team-mates.

His future has been discussed at length this summer but his agent Samir Khiat has issued a huge update – which will concern both Liverpool and Everton.

“Nicolas is open to everything,” Khiat said. “The aim is for him to sign in the right place. PSG is a possibility.

“I cannot say on the 12th July that he will sign for PSG. Today, all parties need to reach an agreement.

“Lille, the buying club and us. There are exchanges and discussions. He is wanted by a considerable number of clubs.

“For him, the most important thing is to be wanted and to go to a good club, in which he will play and continue to progress.”

Pepe’s future has taken a hitch while the Africa Cup of Nations went on, with the forward being knocked out with Ivory Coast on Thursday following a penalty shootout with Algeria.

“We had two offers before the Africa Cup of Nations,” Lille president Gerard Lopez said.

“We’ll see after that, my position was to see if we could not do something before it, we had two proposals before it, I had two clubs.

“I am not particularly focused on Liverpool. But it is true that there have been discussions with agents.”
