If you’ve wanted to visit Pearl Harbor and the battleship USS Arizona memorial but haven’t been able to make the trip to Hawaii, now there’s a virtual alternative.
The National Park Service and Pacific Historic Parks have teamed up to release a pair of Pearl Harbor apps designed to enhance visitor experiences while in Hawaii or wherever you may be.
The free Pearl Harbor-USS Arizona app is the official visitors guide for the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument. It is an interactive guide to the park and contains tour highlights, maps, ticket information and other useful tips.
For $2.99, you can immerse yourself (provided you have a virtual reality headset) in the USS Arizona before the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Pearl Harbor Virtual Reality Tours app offers a chance to walk the deck of the Arizona before the attack.
Through the app you can also check out key stages of the Japanese attack on Battleship Row and explore the USS Arizona Memorial, including areas not accessible to the public.
Both apps are available for Apple and Android phones.
