The Met Office has issued a fresh severe weather warning for the United Kingdom, predicting thunderstorms and heavy rain across the country. The warning, which warns of showers in a few areas where heavy rain and thunderstorms might cause transport disruption and floods, affects a number of locations.
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Tuesday, August 10 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The alert warns of some flooding in homes and businesses, as well as the possibility of adverse driving conditions.
The thunderstorm warning is currently solely for Scotland’s effect zones.
The following areas, in particular, will be impacted: Central, Tayside, and Fife, encompassing Angus and Perth and Kinross.
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, as well as the Grampian region, will be affected.
“Heavy showers and thunderstorms may break out during the afternoon,” the Met Office warns.
“In some areas, 0.4 to 0.8 inches (10mm to 20mm) of rain could fall in an hour or less, while in others, 0.8 to 1.6 inches (20mm to 40mm) of rain could accumulate over several hours.
