‘Let us not deceive ourselves!’ Matteo Salvini slams Macron’s ‘crazy’ health-care plan.

Matteo Salvini slammed EMMANUEL MACRON’s latest “extreme” coronavirus measures, as Italian lawmakers consider following the French President’s lead.

On Thursday, the leader of Italy’s right-wing Lega warned reporters that the country should not follow Emmanuel Macron’s lead on vaccine health pass requirements. The French President announced broad steps this week to combat a significant rise in new coronavirus infections, including mandatory vaccination for health personnel and new health pass restrictions for the general population.

He went further than most other European countries in doing so, as the highly contagious Delta form causes a new wave of illnesses, and other governments are closely watching how the French people reacts.

Mr. Salvini, the Italian prime minister, swiftly opposed the harsh penalties.

“Emmanuel Macron’s approach is not a model,” he remarked.

“Asking for the green pass for individuals who take the bus or have a cup of coffee is out of the question.

“Do I need a vaccination, a swab, or a green card to enter bars and restaurants?

“Let’s be honest, we’re not fooling ourselves.

“How does Draghi see things? Ask him, but let’s just say neither I nor he enjoys making severe decisions.

“Obviously, in instances involving a large assembly, it will be vital to follow the rules.

“Vaccination must be a conscious choice, not a requirement.

“It’s understandable, but I’m not going to chase somebody down the street, to school, or to a restaurant with a syringe.”

The suggestions were also rejected by Giorgia Meloni, the head of the Fratelli d’Italia.

“The concept of utilizing the green card to participate in social life is chilling,” she raged.

“It is the final step toward achieving an Orwellian society.

“This is an unconstitutional folly that Fratelli d’Italia vehemently opposes.

“In our eyes, individual liberty is sacred and untouchable.”

Tear gas was used by dozens of French police to disperse a protest against President Macron’s intention to require a COVID-19 immunization certificate or a negative PCR test for access to pubs, restaurants, and movies starting next month.

Hundreds of protestors marched down a boulevard in central Paris on Wednesday without permission from the Paris authorities, prompting the police to intervene. Some wore pins that read, “No to the Health Pass.”

Some critics of Mr Macron’s plan, which will begin in August and oblige shopping malls, cafes, bars, and restaurants to verify all users’ health cards, accuse him of trampling on freedoms and discriminating against people who do not want to participate. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
