Les Dennis’ health: The actor talks about how a health issue forced him to adjust his behaviors – warning signals
LES DENNIS, 67, made a reputation for himself as the host of the game program Family Fortunes. The presenter-turned-actor had a health scare a few years ago that caused him to reconsider his lifestyle.
Les Dennis is best known for his nearly two decades as the host of the game program Family Fortunes. Les has had a successful theatre career since leaving the program, appearing in a number of productions, including the musical adaptation of The Addams Family. He’ll be remembered for more than one reason for his performance as Uncle Fester in The Addams Family.
After getting examined out for another issue during the UK tour, Les discovered he was prediabetic.
In an interview with Lorraine on ITV, he talked about the incident.
“I developed bronchitis and laryngitis during the Addams Family tour,” he explained.
“As a result, I had a blood test and discovered I was diabetic.”
Prediabetes is a condition in which your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Les was jolted into action by the diagnosis, and he decided to modify his ways.
“I dropped 20 pounds… He told Lorraine, “I’m doing a lot of walking.”
Les demonstrated his dedication by participating in a Sports Relief training program.
The actor also shared a personal reason for quitting smoking.
“I have two young children and an adult son,” he explained.
“Instead of chasing them, I want to run alongside them.”
The actor, who has shed a substantial amount of weight, has some advice for people who want to better their health.
“I hope I’m an example that anyone, regardless of age, can achieve it with exercise and a healthy diet. Plus a smidgeon of inspiration!” he beams.
