The Princess of Wales has disclosed that she has started playing padel with her 70-year-old parents, Michael and Carole Middleton.
The racket game, dubbed the “world’s fastest-growing sport” and characterised as a cross between squash and tennis, is usually played in doubles on a tiny, glass-enclosed court.
Celebrity supporters include Andy Murray and Lionel Messi. It was created in the 1960s by a Mexican businessman.
The 44-year-old Kate has now expressed her admiration for the game.
The princess, who was hosting a garden party at Buckingham Palace with Prince William on Friday, talked passionately about how much she loved playing padel, even if she acknowledged that tennis was her true passion.
“Have you adopted padel?” she enquired while speaking with Lawn Tennis Association representatives. I adore padel; it’s a fantastic game and an excellent way to level the playing field for people who don’t play tennis.
“It’s so sociable and all generations can play—I play with my parents,” she said to another visitor.
With assistance from Zara Tindall, William’s cousin, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Prince and Princess staged the second garden party of the season on behalf of the King.

Kate accessorised her self-portrait dress and heels with a charming black-and-white hat, Princess Diana’s bracelet, and the late Queen Elizabeth’s earrings.
William, 43, looked sharp in a morning outfit that included a crimson tie and a blue waistcoat.
On the lawn of the King’s London home in bright weather, over 8,000 guests—many from charities the couple supports and others they have met while serving as working royals—enjoyed tea and cakes.
The pair threw the garden party the day after William’s team advanced to the Europa League final, and Kate quipped that he “makes so much noise” when he watches his favourite Aston Villa.
William acknowledged that he had “bags under the eyes,” while the princess disclosed that she let her three kids to remain up late to watch Thursday night’s match versus Nottingham Forest.
“Even Louis makes a lot of noise,” she said. “We let them stay up and watch the match even though they wanted to go.”
Additionally, she discussed the family’s one-year-old puppy Otto with a woman, disclosing that “unfortunately” he had “chewed quite a lot the other day.”
“You need to keep them occupied,” she remarked. “Has anyone taken Otto out?” is the first thing we do in the morning.
The 44-year-old Catherine wore shoes, a matching Self Portrait dress, and a charming black-and-white hat.
The King and Royal Family throw a number of garden parties at London and Scotland’s Palace of Holyroodhouse each summer.
Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended a similar ceremony hosted by the King and Queen.
They today honour and reward public service, although in the past they were used as presentation events for high society debutantes.
The national anthem opens the celebration, and then members of the Royal Family greet attendees on the grounds.
Every year, around 30,000 people are often invited to the activities.
Each one is thought to serve 20,000 sandwiches, 20,000 slices of cake, and 27,000 cups of tea.
The second garden party of the year took place on Friday, and tomorrow there will be a third one at the palace. The celebration in Edinburgh is scheduled for June 30.
Additionally, there will be two special events this summer: one on Thursday to commemorate The King’s Trust’s 50th anniversary of founding, and another the following week to assist a charity that supports veterans. Not Forgotten.
