An ex-Sony executive is speaking out about the company’s efforts to make this happen. Imagine being able to play classic games on your PC without the use of an emulator.

First-Party Sony Games

According to an arsTechnica report, Sony has a long history of keeping its prized first-party titles hidden behind the walled garden of platform exclusivity. However, this may change in the future.

Because of Sony’s history of exclusives, the company’s decision to release “Horizon Zero Dawn,” a critically acclaimed PS4 game, to PC in August 2020 appeared like a precedent-setting move away from that particular barrier to entry. This was clearly a watershed moment for a publisher who was fiercely protective of its large range of console exclusives.

Sony’s CEO Breaks the News

Shawn Layden, the former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, relays the news. Sony is rumored to be pursuing a new, more open policy for porting certain first-party games to PC, and it was a simple decision.

Even on the most recent episode of the What’s Up PlayStation podcast, Laydon, who left the firm in October 2019, admitted that he was one of the few people considering a new PC effort in the months leading up to his official retirement.

Horizon and Uncharted 4 are two games that I’m looking forward to playing.

Following the launch of Horizon in 2020, “Days Gone” was allowed to debut on the platform in early 2021. Following a “Uncharted 4” leak in May 2021, Sony announced during its own September PS5 unveiling that the following year’s “Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection” will be released on PC shortly after the console version.

In July 2020, “Death Stranding” was officially ported over, with 505 Games handling the publishing chores. PC gamers may currently access a variety of Sony games via PlayStation Now on PC. Check out Razer’s new Kiyo X and Ripsaw X gaming PCs if you’re into the whole gaming PC thing.
