In the United States, Prince Harry’s five-month paternity leave following Lilibet’s birth has raised concerns.
PRINCE HARRY has been questioned about taking five months off after the birth of Lilibet Diana.
On June 4, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their newest member to the family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are taking a five-month maternity leave after the birth of their second child, which they named after the Queen and Princess Diana. Marlene Koenig, a royal specialist, compared it to American mothers and stated that it is “not the norm.”
“It’s kind of weird that their foundation has this sort of stuff when it’s not the standard in the US because we have no national policy on paternity leave,” Ms Koenig told This website.
“The federal government provides X weeks of paid leave to federal employees.”
“There is more of it, but there is no national policy,” she noted. It’s been five months, isn’t it? ‘Excuse me,’ most American mothers say.
“Unless you have a fantastic employer, the majority of American moms have to save their sick leave and vacation income and scrounge it together.”
“We’re so used to seeing senior royals going back to work, but Harry and Meghan are leading by example,” royal biographer Omid Scobie told Good Morning America.
“At Archewell, they provide up to 20 weeks of parental leave, so the two of them will be out of work for several months.
It has also been suggested that Meghan and Harry return to the UK with Prince Harry for the unveiling of the Diana statue since it would be “good for brand.”
The unveiling of the Princess Diana statue, according to Charlotte Griffiths of The Mail on Sunday, is a “lost chance” for Meghan.
When asked if Meghan will ever come to the UK, Ms Griffiths told Mail+’s Speaking to Palace Confidential: “It will be such a big event when she finally does.” It’s nearly not worth considering.
“You can imagine Meghan would have wanted to come over for the installation of the Diana statue in a different era; her daughter’s middle name is Diana.
“It’s actually pretty advantageous for Markle’s business that she keeps this connection to the Royal Family every now and again.
“It’s a squandered chance, but how can she possibly face it?”
The royal couple has also been invited to return to the United Kingdom to have Lilibet Diana’s christening.
