The Daily Mail can confirm that Bonnie Tyler had emergency intestinal surgery after being taken to a hospital in Portugal.

The 74-year-old singer of Total Eclipse of the Heart is presently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Faro, where she has owned a home since the early 1980s.

According to insiders, Bonnie had terrible gastrointestinal pain in recent days and had to rush to the hospital due to a ruptured intestine.

Bonnie is reportedly stable and recuperating after the operation after the terrifying dash.

“We are very sorry to announce that Bonnie has been admitted to hospital in Faro, Portugal, where she resides, for emergency intestinal surgery.” “The surgery went well and she is now recuperating,” a spokesperson stated.

“We are aware that her family, friends, and admirers will be worried about this news and will be wishing her a speedy and complete recovery.”

Later this year, the Welsh singer’s European tour is scheduled to begin.

When Bonnie spoke in March, her knee pain was the only serious health issue she had at the time.

“I’m fit enough right now, touch wood, and I’m really enjoying doing the shows,” she said to Hello!.

The Daily Mail can reveal that Bonnie Tyler had emergency bowel surgery after being taken to a hospital in Portugal. “I’m still rocking on that stage with my wonderful band, and if you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything.” “I do home Pilates, only 20 minutes a day—it’s something I can do in my hotel rooms.” “I had problems with my knees; I didn’t have new knees, I had what they call washouts [a surgical knee procedure], which turned out to be very successful. Hopefully, that will continue for a very long time.

Robert Sullivan, a real estate entrepreneur, is married to Bonnie, who has a thick, raspy voice.

The pair alternated between their residences in South Wales and Portugal.

In the 1970s, she fell in love with the Algarve while recording an album and purchased her first villa there.

She demolished her five-bedroom villa in Albufeira in 2009 to construct a full-frontal glass house with ornate garden water features.

“It’s a magical place where you could sail out to sea at midnight and enjoy a barbecue and return to shore in the early hours of the morning to find the local bars still open,” she remarked, referring to the area.

In addition, Bonnie owns several rental houses in Portugal with her husband, a former Olympian Judo athlete.

In 2023, Bonnie told The Sunday Times about her opulent Albufeira home: “My husband and I purchased a fully furnished villa down the road between Albufeira and Vilamoura in the early 1980s. Ten years ago, we flattened it and hired a Spanish architect to design a state-of-the-art house with big windows and a large decking area so that we could enjoy the sea views.” Portugal like a paradise. We are there for six months out of the year.

Later this year, the Welsh singer is scheduled to begin her European tour.

Bonnie regularly interacts with her numerous well-known local pals.

“We socialise with friends and go out to dinner at one of the many Portuguese restaurants in our area,” she says.We used to get together with Cliff Richard, but he no longer resides in Portugal. But he did extend an invitation for us to stay at his Barbados property. With his pals, we had numerous lunches and dinners. He even brought us to the home of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Barbados was amazing, but it was odd to watch Cliff pulling weeds from his yard outside the window.

She also mentioned their real estate empire, saying, “My husband is very good at investing in property.” He and his business partner purchased a large amount of land in New Zealand in the 1970s.

“We started off as a cashmere goat farm before turning it into a dairy farm, which we sold earlier this year. In Lambourn, Berkshire, we also own 65 stables that we lease to the Jockey Club. We sold 17 of the 22 Berkshire homes we had owned.

Even though Bonnie is in her mid-seventies, she has no plans to retire and will keep performing throughout the UK and Europe until the end of the year.

She remarked, “I started singing when I was 17 and I never thought I’d still be doing it at this age,” in an interview with the Mirror last year. I’ve slowed down a bit, but I now realise that I will never retire. I was fortunate to be in Portugal when the first lockdown was announced, but by the end of it, I had had enough. I was losing my mind. I had to get back on the road!
