In 40th birthday photos, Kate Middleton pays a touching tribute to Diana and the Queen.
With her new birthday portraits, KATE MIDDLETON has paid a moving tribute to the Queen and the late Princess Diana.
Even eagle-eyed royal watchers may have missed a touching tribute included in the photos paying homage to the Queen and Princess Diana. The Duchess of Cambridge sent royal fans into a frenzy after she unveiled three new photos to mark her 40th birthday on January 9.
Kate is seen wearing a signature pair of earrings in a stunning portrait wearing a red satin one-shoulder gown.
The 95-year-old monarch actually owns the diamond-studded earrings.
A second black-and-white photo of Kate in a traditional pose pays tribute to the late Princess of Wales in a sweet way.
Diana wears her hair swept back to show off her diamond and pearl drop earrings.
However, this isn’t Kate’s only nod to her late mother-in-law; her iconic sapphire engagement ring is also visible, standing out against the white of her gown.
Kate has worn noth earrings on several other occasions, drawing on the royal styles of both the Queen and Princess Diana.
Paolo Roversi, a fashion photographer, captured the portraits at Kew Gardens in November.
Mr Roversi described photographing Kate as “pure joy” and said she can “bring hope to the entire world” with her “positive energy.”
“Taking Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge’s portrait was a true honor for me and a moment of pure joy,” he said.
“I was moved by her warm and friendly welcome, and enchanted by her shining eyes, which reflected her soul’s loveliness, and her smile, which revealed her heart’s generosity.”
“For me, it was a profound and rich experience, a once-in-a-lifetime moment.”
“I met a wonderful person, someone who can bring hope to the whole world with her positive energy.”
Kate is expected to have a “low-key” birthday celebration today.
According to reports, the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William will celebrate their 40th birthdays together in June.
