SEOUL, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) — Imported car sales in South Korea posted a double-digit growth last month due to strong demand for German luxury models, industry data showed Monday.
The number of imported vehicles registered here was 20,813 in October, up 23.6 percent from the same month of last year, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA).
For the past 10 months of this year, the imported car sales reached 217,868 vehicles, up 14.4 percent from the same period of last year.
German carmaker Mercedes-Benz sold 6,371 vehicles in South Korea in October, becoming the best-selling foreign automobile brand in the local market. Its most popular luxury model was E300, which sold 2,668 units last month.
BMW ranked the second with 2,131 vehicles sold here in October.
It was followed by Lexus with 1,980 vehicles sold here, Toyota with 1,341 units and Volkswagen with 1,302 vehicles sold respectively.
