Following the tragic news of his co-star and friend Sean Lock’s death, comedian Lee Mack has broken his silence, admitting that he knew “this day was coming.”

Lee Mack, 53, has paid tribute to his buddy and fellow comedian Sean Lock, who died tragically of cancer at the age of 58. Lee, who has worked with Sean on panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, where he was a guest captain, said he was aware of his sickness for “some time.”

Despite knowing of Sean’s cancer diagnosis, he continued, the news of his death is “no less heartbreaking.”

“I’ve known this day was coming for a long time, but it’s no less heartbreaking,” Lee said in a statement.

“In both comedy and life, he is a true original.

He concluded, “I will miss him tremendously.”

The comedian’s agent revealed his death from cancer today.

Sean played at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007 in support of Teenage Cancer Trust after battling skin cancer and vowed to raise awareness about the condition.

Prior to his rise to stardom as a comedian, the star was diagnosed with the condition in 1990.

He contracted skin cancer while working as a laborer on a construction site and recovered completely.

Sean was a member of Jimmy Carr’s Channel 4 comedic panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats as a team captain.

Jimmy recently used his 6.6 million Twitter followers to pay respect to his co-star.

“Brutal news about Sean Lock today,” he wrote.

“I had a thing for him. I’m currently watching clips of him, both laughing and sobbing.

“I’m going to miss him so much.”

“It is with tremendous sadness that we must announce Sean Lock’s death,” Off The Kerb Productions said in a statement.

“He died of cancer at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

“Sean was one of the best comedians in Britain; his inexhaustible originality, rapid wit, and absurdist brilliance distinguished him as a singular voice in British comedy.

“Sean was a loving husband and father to three children.

“All who knew Sean will be deeply saddened by his passing.

“We respectfully request that the privacy of his family and children be respected at this time.”
