FOOD FOR THOUGHT: These healthy snacks will satisfy you during your weight loss journey

Thousands of British dieters swear by the Slimming World regime.

The flexible plan focuses on Food Optimising, which consists of three steps: free foods, healthy extras and Syns.

To be successful, you should aim to keep your Syns to a minimum.

But sometimes, this can prove a bit tricky if you’ve got a sweet tooth.

So which treats can you eat when you’re looking to lose weight?

Here are the top seven low Syn treats for Slimming World dieters:

1. Muller Light

Surprisingly, some of these sweet yoghurts are considered to be “Free” foods.

Muller Light in peanut and chocolate orange are among the tastiest options that fit this category.

If you’re looking for something a little more indulgent, you can splash a couple of Syns on Muller Light Goodies.

These come in coconut, coffee and lemon meringue flavours.

2. Jelly

Hartley’s 10 calorie jellies are firm favourites with Slimming World members.

They contain just 0.5 Syns each and come in a variety of tasty flavours, from key lime pie to lemon cheesecake.

3. Snack A Jacks

Rice cakes are a great snack to grab on the go.

Snack A Jacks are Slimming World staples, especially as you can eat Jumbo size crackers for around 2.5 Syns.

If you’re looking for something sweet, reach for the Caramel and Choc Chip options.

Many choose to layer these with fruit or nut spread for an extra hit of flavour.

3. Halo Top ice cream

This high protein product is a favourite among dieters – especially as it only contains 320 calories per tub.

For each 118ml serving, you can expect to use around 4.5 Syns.

Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate and Cinnamon Roll are among the Halo Top flavours stocked in Tesco.

4. Mikado

Many dieters find it impossible to give up chocolate.

Thankfully, there’s no need to banish it completely if you’re on a Slimming World plan.

One of the best options on the market are Mikado, which will cost you 0.5 per stick.

5. Ice poles

If you’re looking for some refreshment on a hot summer’s day, this could be your best bet.

Ice poles typically contain between 0.5 and 1 Syns.

6. Fruit

If you’re craving sugar, it’s usually best to go for the natural kind.

Dieters will be pleased to know that nearly all fresh fruits are Free Foods.

Strawberries, apples and mangoes are among those you can eat without breaking your diet.

Be wary of blended, canned and dry fruit, as these always count as Syns.

7. Jelly babies

You may not associate sugar snacks with weight loss, but jelly babies can actually be a total saviour.

At just 1 Syn per sweet, you can eat a few without deviating from your healthy regime.
