An Australian woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing how she made a coffee table with two unlikely household products.
Alicia Prosser revealed she made the table by using a $40 woven rattan basket from IKEA and a wooden chopping board from Wheel & Barrow.
‘I couldn’t find the coffee table I wanted and saw an IKEA hack online so off I went to get my basket,’ she said in the video.
The TikTok video has since been viewed more than 870,000 times within three days and has received more than 156,000 ‘likes’.
Alicia made the coffee table by removing the handles from the basket and chopping board, then flipped the basket over and glued the board on using Selleys Liquid Nails Adhesive.
‘It’s so cute and it was so easy,’ she said in the caption of the video.
Other TikTok users agreed and said the DIY coffee table project looked ‘amazing’ and ‘adorable’.
‘Absolutely gorgeous! Might have to take a trip to IKEA,’ one person said.
‘IKEA is about to be sold out of that basket,’ another joked.
A third said: ‘Genius! You can also use it as storage if you don’t flip the basket.’
The coffee table hack is simplistic enough for anyone to recreate themselves at home, as long as the right sized chopping board is used to match the diameter of the basket.
American TikTok users were not only impressed with the helpful hack, but were also enthused by Alicia’s Australian accent.
