Heavy rain and 60mph winds are expected to hit Britain tonight, according to the UK storm tracker.

High winds and rain are expected to reach the UK tonight as Hurricane Sam sweeps into the Atlantic, prompting weather warnings across the country.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in numerous parts of the country from 5 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Tuesday, with the potential for flooding and disruption to public transportation such as buses and trains. Wind gusts of up to 63 mph are expected in the southeast by Tuesday afternoon, according to maps.

According to Tyler Ros of AccuWeather, Hurricane Sam will “become a tropical rainfall just southeast of Newfoundland Labrador” on Tuesday.

Several flood advisories are in effect, including in Wales, where the Mawddach and Wnion Catchments and the Keswick Campsite near Carlisle have been warned of “possible isolated flooding.”

In the northwest and southeast, five flood alerts have been issued.

According to the MeteoGroup UK, Tuesday’s weather will be “unsettled and blustery.”

“Outbreaks of rain, especially throughout northern England and southern Scotland, will be locally severe and prolonged with torrential downpours,” they say.

“Across southern England and Northern Ireland, bright and sunny spells will occur.”

Throughout the night, the Met Office predicts “heavy rain and strong gusts” moving eastwards across Wales and South West England.

The public has been cautioned to expect the following:
