The quiet Majorcan community of Santa Margalida, as well as the larger entertainment industry, have been shaken by his passing.
Many people have talked about the difficult final months of former TOWIE star Jake Hall in the days since his passing.
The 35-year-old businessman and artist, who had been residing in a rented property in the village while concentrating on his artwork, passed away last week from severe injuries.
According to Spanish investigators, Hall appears to have ran through a patio door during a party at the residence, resulting in a deadly chest wound from shattered glass. His death is being investigated as an accident, according to police.
However, Hall’s friends have told me today that they were “incredibly worried” about him in the weeks preceding his untimely death, disclosing growing financial strains, protracted “benders,” and an incident in which he was defrauded of £100,000 by an art dealer, which they believe sent him into a downward spiral.
Paradoxically, Hall had become more and more committed to art in recent years, characterising it as both a form of therapy and a means of resolving personal conflicts.
Hall, who was formerly well-known for his part in the ITVBe reality series The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE) and for starting the now-defunct fashion brand Prevu Studio, was concentrating on establishing a new creative life in Spain.
According to friends, he had completed his first sculpture work for the beach club Nu Mallorca and was getting ready to start an art gallery called Son Buga Studios. In March, his artwork was also on show at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
Hall’s pals told Molly Clayton today that in the weeks preceding his untimely death, they were “incredibly worried” about him (seen earlier this year).
Hall had become more and more committed to the art world, using it as a coping mechanism for his inner turmoil as well as a form of treatment. Only one day before he passed away, he posted this on Instagram.
However, my informant described a man who had grown more and more alone and distressed in the last weeks of his life after the purported swindle.
According to a friend, “He started becoming pretty spiritual and would go to “sound baths” [a meditation experience where participants are “bathed” in sound waves from instruments like metal gongs and chimes].
During one of such bouts, he once attempted to destroy a door. It caused him a great deal of tension, strain, and anxiety.
According to the source, Hall’s mental health deteriorated as a result of his financial worries, and he turned to drinking and throwing parties in his Majorcan home as a coping mechanism.
They claimed that he “started to shut out his friends and stop picking up the phone or answering messages.” In just a few weeks, everything deteriorated. In some circles, things get boisterous. It only gets worse when you combine that with someone who isn’t feeling well.
He simply got into the wrong crowd, which is quite unfortunate. His daughter will now be the one who suffers the most.
Given that Hall recently talked openly in an interview about how painting helped him deal with heartache, loss, and the demise of the fashion company he had spent years creating, it is terrible that an art fraud was what pushed him into a downward spiral. Prevu Studio entered administration in 2023 after being sold to JD Sports in 2021 and purchased by Frasers Group in 2022.
“Every painting tells its own story,” he declared. There is a great deal of suffering, good, and hope. I’ve been able to put things on paper and get them out of my head.
The first thing that pulled me to art was my kid. Losing a company I had established over the course of seven years was a difficult experience for me. And after devoting my entire being to something, it was suddenly snatched away from me one day.
“I couldn’t exact revenge, and when something is taken from you, you go through deep things.”
My kid remarked, “Daddy, let’s draw,” after we relocated to Spain. I was lifted out of a dark place by it.
In an attempt to replenish the £100,000 they claim Hall lost in the purported fraud, friends have started a fundraising campaign for his 8-year-old daughter, River.
As of Monday afternoon, the GoFundMe campaign created by close friends had contributed over £2,600 toward a goal of £13,000.
“We all woke up this morning to the heartbreaking news that our dear friend Jake passed away in the early hours of yesterday morning,” a friend said in the description of the campaign.
Jake told me during the last few weeks that he had lost £100,000 as a victim of a nasty fraud. He was understandably very stressed and disturbed about it.
People who knew Jake are aware that River, his daughter, was everything to him. We want to raise the £100,000 that Jake lost in order to fully support River’s future.
River, Misse Beqiri’s eight-year-old daughter, was fathered by her ex-husband Jake, who passed away. Misse and her companions both think the deadly event was unintentional.
Jake appeared on TOWIE in 2015 and departed the following year. In 2015, he was spotted in Marbella, Spain, riding a jet ski.
“Any contribution, regardless of size, would be extremely appreciated.” Please think about sharing this page if you are unable to make a donation.
“We appreciate your generosity, encouragement, and assistance in helping us accomplish something significant for Jake and River.”
Hall had multiple suicide attempts, according to the Daily Mail, but both friends and his ex-partner Misse Beqiri think his death was unintentional.
An autopsy was performed in Palma over the weekend, but Spanish officials will not make the results public. The fatal wound is believed to have been caused by a piece of glass. In order to ascertain whether alcohol or narcotics were present in his system at the time of his death, toxicology tests are also anticipated.
“There is nothing pointing to it being the result of a crime at this stage,” a Civil Guard spokesman stated.
Officers have allegedly questioned four males and two women who were in the villa at the time of Hall’s death.
