‘Had enough,’ Joan Collins says of her refusal to name the Sussexes in the wake of the cancel culture.
JOAN COLLINS has reiterated her hesitation to remark on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, citing “cancel culture” as a reason.
Dame Joan Collins, 88, is known for her strong opinions on a wide range of issues, but one topic she would not address is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the United Kingdom, dubbed “Megxit.” The renowned Hollywood actress was born in London but spent many years in the United States, where she worked on shows such as Dynasty in the 1980s.
Dame Joan now divides her time between her Belgravia house and summers in the south of France, but she never misses a beat when it comes to world news.
She pays close attention to the culture wars and has a keen understanding of the media landscape. She largely avoids social media owing to cancel culture, with the exception of the occasional “anodyne” post.
“I don’t want to engage with these jerks in any way, shape, or form,” she says.
This could also explain why she refuses to speak about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
She told The Sunday Times, “I think they’ve got enough oxygen in the press.”
The Duke of Cambridge and his wife Kate Middleton, both 39, were dubbed “excellent” by the Dynasty legend.
She compared the couple to Harry and Meghan, saying they “do a lot for the country.”
“However, I must confess that I adore Kate Middleton, Prince William, and their three children.””
Princes George, eight, and Louis, three, as well as Princess Charlotte, six, are the royals’ children.
Joan went on to say to MailOnline: “They’re fantastic, and I’d rather read about them because I believe they contribute much to the country.
“I really don’t want to talk about the other two [Harry and Meghan],” she says.
Her most recent interview is timed to coincide with the publication of her new book, My Unapologetic Diaries.
It features the Golden Globe winner naming names like Donald Trump and Debbie Reynolds, as well as her personal thoughts on meeting them.
It wasn’t simply the royals she discussed openly in a teaser provided by the aforementioned website.
Joan recalled meeting Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, who passed away in 2017.
Many thought she was a society beauty, but the former argued to differ.
“Brinkwire Summary News” describes her as “plain, verging on the horsey.”
