New year dietary ambitions are about to go out of the window and shatter into a billion, tiny, flaky-crust pieces on the road below then be consumed by a dog, digested, and later pooed out somewhere unmentionable in an irreparable state, as beloved high street food provider Greggs has teamed up with Asda to bring hot sausage concessions to the land’s supermarkets.
It won’t be a small thing, or a box of frozen bakes in the freezer, or a shelf in the existing bakery either, as the plan is for a full shop-within-a-shop, offering all the usual Greggs sandwiches, passable own-brand crisps, rolls and drinks deals and whatnot, as well as the full range of usually still quite warm baked goods. If Public Health England and its Welsh and Scottish equivalents don’t stop it from going ahead for our own good.
Asda’s strategy officer Preyash Thakrar said: “We are constantly looking for new ways to increase customer choice, and by partnering with brands that fit with our core values of great quality and great value – like Greggs – we’re excited to be able to give our customers access to something new in store that we know they will love.” [MEN]
