A shooting outside the Nationals Park baseball stadium in Washington, DC injured four persons.

As rumors of gunfire circulated through the throng outside the National Parks baseball field in Washington, D.C., four people were shot.

Separate footage recorded from a neighboring roof shows hundreds of people exiting the stadium.

According to authorities, shots were fired near the third base gate outside the stadium at 9.30 p.m. EST on Saturday (1.30 a.m. GMT Sunday) during the Nationals’ game against the San Diego Padres.

The game has been halted and will resume on Sunday at 12:05 p.m. EST (5.05pm GMT).

The DC Police Department issued a statement saying, “PD is responding to a gunshot in the 1500 block of South Capitol Street, SW, in which two people were shot outside of Nationals Park.”

“This is a current investigation, and no ongoing threat appears to exist at this time.

“In connection with this incident, two other victims were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds. The MPD has arrived at the scene and is conducting an investigation.

“Due to the shooting event, tonight’s game has been canceled.”

No word on whether or not the shooter will be captured.

The Nationals confirmed the postponement with a posting on Twitter.

“Tonight’s game has been suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning due to an incident surrounding Nationals Park,” it added.
