A gunman attempted to kill Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association’s annual dinner, which has been rescheduled. The President has stated that he will attend.
Gunman Cole Allen, 31, burst past a Secret Service checkpoint with a shotgun, revolver, and many knives, ruining the initial supper in late April.
According to a statement from WHCA President Weija Jang, the dinner has since been rescheduled for July 24.
“It was just announced that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which violently ended rather abruptly on April 25th, will be rescheduled to July 24th, in a sign of strength and fortitude,” Trump wrote on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
We cannot allow Lunatics to alter our way of life or even its schedule, which is why this news is so beneficial. Weijia Jiang, President of the White House Correspondents’ Association, requested me to go and give a speech, and I agreed.
Trump revealed that the celebration will take place at The Waldorf Astoria, his former hotel in Washington, DC.
It will be a “HOT” ticket in any case! It’s interesting to note that the venue will be The Waldorf Astoria, a building and ballroom I constructed on Pennsylvania Avenue.
“I don’t know whether or not I will give the same rather nasty statements, at least as it concerns certain people, but we will soon find out,” he said, hinting that he would need to revise his address.
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump attend the yearly White House Correspondents Dinner at the Washington Hilton. The dinner has been rescheduled for July 24, the group announced on Tuesday.
Before reportedly breaking through a security checkpoint with a shotgun, revolver, and several knives, Cole Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, took this selfie. He faces allegations that might result in a life sentence and is presently being held in pretrial detention in Washington, DC.
The Waldorf Astoria in Washington, DC, a hotel that Trump once owned, will host the rescheduled dinner.
Allen is being held in pretrial detention in Washington; among other counts, he faces life in prison for attempting to kill a US president.
Cole was captured right away after reportedly shooting a Secret Service agent and running through a magnetometer.
The dinner guests in a nearby room were startled when the Secret Service opened fire on Cole, causing many of them to seek shelter beneath their tables.
Later that night, while still in his tuxedo, Trump held a press conference from the White House Press Briefing room and stated that he would like the meal to be rescheduled within 30 days.
Many were left wondering how Allen was able to enter the event with heavy weapons, and the WHCA stated in its email that the rescheduled banquet will have improved security and screening procedures.
In her email to WHCA members, Jiang stated, “The event will feature significantly enhanced safety measures and new access procedures.”
According to the report, the re-run will also “be a more intimate gathering,” perhaps with fewer people.
The event, which has been conducted every year for more than a century, is intended to honor the First Amendment and the freedom of speech enjoyed by US people.
