Following the Monday morning shooting death of a “entirely innocent” mother in Sheffield, two individuals have been prosecuted.
Shanice Brookes, a 30-year-old digital designer and photographer, was shot outside One Four One bar in the city center at around 2.45 in the morning.
Shanice was not involved in the street altercation that preceded the shooting.
Following Brookes’s passing, Jemele Rhone, 30, and Deiryen Dyce, 32, were both charged and are scheduled to face in Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Dyce, of Ellesmere Road North, Sheffield, was charged with helping an offender, possessing ammunition, possessing drugs with intent to supply, and possessing criminal property, while Rhone, of Outram Road, Sheffield, was charged with murder, possession of a firearm, and possession of criminal property.
According to South Yorkshire Police, a 30-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of murder has been freed and is no longer a suspect.
The mother-of-one was described as “an entirely innocent bystander who should’ve been able to enjoy a night out in our city without the fear that she wouldn’t come home safely” by senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles.
“Shanice’s family, including her young son, now face the harrowing reality that they will never get to see her again,” he continued.

After receiving treatment from police and paramedics, Shanice, who had been a child and youth worker for the previous five years, passed away in the hospital.This month was the mother-of-one’s scheduled university graduation.She was described by her family as “truly one of a kind” and “an amazing mum to her son, who meant the world to her.”

Shanice was described as “truly one of a kind” in a family memorial.
According to their statement, which was made public by the police, “Shanice had the biggest heart and the kind of energy you could never forget. She was a deeply loved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, and godmother, as well as an amazing mother to her son, who meant the world to her.” “To her cousins, she was more like a sister, someone they could always turn to for love, laughter, and support.” “She was also due to graduate from university, a reflection of her determination, ambition, and the bright future ahead of her.”
According to her LinkedIn profile, she had been enrolled in The Sheffield College’s three-year bachelor’s program in photography, videography, and graphic design since September 2023 and was scheduled to graduate this month.
“She could light up every room she walked in to with her infectious laugh, beautiful soul, and magical aura,” the family continued in their tribute.
By being herself, Shanice gave others a sense of safety, love, and worth.
