Following an unusual event at a Canberra photo printing business, a lady has been charged with possessing child abuse material.
The 36-year-old, who is from Wamboin in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, allegedly went to a Belconnen picture printing business on Wednesday to print many digital photos, according to the police.
She was given a refund and allowed to leave the store after it was discovered that the machine had broken while she was attempting to print the pictures.
The store’s employees were reportedly able to identify several child exploitation photos that had failed to print shortly after they were inspecting the broken machine.
After they notified ACT Police, an investigation was conducted. Police in Holt stopped a car on Friday afternoon and took the woman into custody.
She was scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday after being charged with one count of aggravated possession of child exploitation material.
Investigations to determine the source of the photos and whether any other crimes were committed are still ongoing, according to police.
Crime Stoppers can be contacted by anyone with information.
