An ‘incident’ in a south Manchester residence is said to have resulted in the death of a newborn.
On Thursday morning, emergency personnel, including an air ambulance, raced to a residence on Platt Lane in Fallowfield.
A paramedic was seen fleeing the house with a baby, according to a neighbour. It was frightening. “Very frightening,” the resident remarked.
Manchester Evening News reported that a baby had died at the scene, however police have not yet verified this.
Whether the death is being investigated as suspicious is unknown at this time.
This afternoon, as an investigation got underway, detectives and forensic investigators were visible at the location.
“There were a lot of police and two ambulances,” remarked a neighbour. One of them mentioned a child, I heard.
Another said, “Until a police officer knocked on my door, I didn’t see or hear anything.”

Additionally, an air ambulance—one in uniform and the other in plain clothes—was seen close to the residence where a baby was said to have died. The person dressed just stated that there had been an incident and enquired as to whether I had heard anything. He remained silent.
The North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police have been contacted by The Daily Mail.
