Firefighters from the United Kingdom have been dispatched to Greece to assist in the fight against wildfires.
Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, is sending 21 of the UK’s best firefighters to Athens to assist in the fight against the raging flames in Greece.
The news comes as it was revealed that a volunteer Greek fireman died battling the blazes that have engulfed the country. He was believed to have been murdered when a power pole fell on him.
“Priti was in Greece last week and seen the horrific effect the flames are having,” a Home Office source added.
“That is why she is sending these firefighters to assist our international allies who are in need.”
