EMMERDALE star Charley Webb leaves the ITV soap tonight as character Debbie Dingle packs her bags and heads for Scotland. But will Debbie Dingle return or has the actress quit Emmerdale for good?
Debbie Dingle (played by Charley Webb) says her emotional goodbyes on Emmerdale tonight (August 13) as she prepares to start a new life in Scotland. Debbie’s exit has been public knowledge for a few weeks now following the news of actor Charley Webb’s pregnancy. However, with the character’s ITV soap exit imminent, soap fans fear Debbie Dingle won’t return to Emmerdale.
Will Debbie Dingle return to Emmerdale?
Debbie Dingle won’t appear on Emmerdale any time in the near future following her exit.
However, Emmerdale fans needn’t fear as neither ITV nor Charley Webb has announced plans for the character never to return.
In fact, Webb took to Twitter to explain Debbie’s exit is so the actor can head on maternity leave.
The Emmerdale star tweeted on July 13: “First day of maternity leave and the suns shining.
“YES! I’ll be found in the garden sunbathing (for about 20 seconds before one of the kids need me).”
The fact Webb has included the phrase ‘maternity leave’ suggest she will return to Emmerdale at some point.
For now, she and co-star and husband Matthew Wolfenden are adapting to life with their third child.
Webb welcomed her third newborn at the end of July 2019 and broke the news with a sweet snap on Instagram (see below).
The soap star announced the news with the caption: “BaByWoLf #3 has joined the crazy gang. We’re in a bubble of newborn’ness heaven.”
Webb found herself inundated with messages of congratulations from a number of her co-stars and several big names from British TV.
Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent said to Webb: “Ahhhhhh Charley!!!! Congratulations [love heart emoji].”
Our Girl actress and star of upcoming Sky series Brassic, Michelle Keegan wrote: “Awwww congratulations my darlin’ [heart emoji] Xxx.”
Her Emmerdale co-star Anthony Quinlan echoed the sentiment with his own message: “Aww congratulations to u (sic) all on your new arrival x. Much love x.”
When and how Webb will exactly return to Emmerdale remains unknown.
With the soap star only just giving birth, Emmerdale fans may be waiting a while to see Debbie Dingle back on screens.
However, Webb’s husband Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe, will remain on the ITV soap.
The repercussions of Debbie’s exit and how it affects her family, especially mum Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), will be revealed in the coming weeks.
