Emma Thompson’s kiss attempt was rebuffed by Prince William: ‘Don’t do it!’

Emma Thompson admitted on a chat show this year that Prince William turned down her effort to kiss him when he bestowed the title of Dame Commander of the British Empire on her.

Because William is the President of the Football Association, he and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are frequently seen at big events, most recently at Euro 2020, where England created history by reaching the final. Kate is the Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, therefore they were also among the spectators at Wimbledon. This week, royal fans thought that actress Priyanka Chopra ignored William and Kate when they came at Centre Court for the Women’s singles final.

Ms Chopra was seen adjusting her scarf and glancing away from the Cambridges as they arrived to applause in a video that went viral online.

William and Kate meet people from the entertainment industry on a daily basis, which resulted in an unpleasant moment in 2018.

William bestowed the title of Dame Commander of the British Empire to Emma Thompson.

“I love Prince William,” she told reporters after the meeting. I’ve known him since he was a child, and all we did was laugh at each other.

“’I can’t kiss you, can I?’ I said. And he told me, ‘No, don’t!’

When asked about William, she said, “He’s looking great and doing great.” ‘This day isn’t about me, it’s about you,’ he remarked.

She was full of praise for William when she spoke about the experience on the Jonathan Ross Show this year.

“His face and body language, so kind and generous to every single person,” Ms Thompson recalled. I’ve known him since he was a young boy. He’s always been a favorite of mine.

“When I inquired about him, he replied, ‘Will you please stop talking about me; it is about you.’ What a lovely gentleman.”

During the interview, Ms Thompson was also asked about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, which took place earlier that year.

She dismissed the incident, but expressed sympathy for the Sussexes in the midst of their royal woes.

“I haven’t had a single thought about it to share with you, I’m very sorry,” Ms Thompson added. It never occurs to me. My kid is getting married next year, so I’m dealing with that a lot more.

“Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, Stop saying things like, “Oh, let’s discuss the royal wedding.” It’s terrible. It’s terrible.
