A MAN in his 60s and a woman in her 70s have been found stabbed to death at a home in London.
Police were called to a property in Whitton, south west London at 9.40am when they found the bodies.
Officers say the bodies have yet to be formally identified but they believe they know their identities, and are supporting their families.
Scotland Yard confirmed this evening that a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The Metropolitan Police described the stabbings as an “isolated incident” and said they are not looking for anybody else in connection with their deaths.
A police statement said: “Police were called to a residential address in Redfern Avenue, Whitton, at 9.41am on Friday, 12 July.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. A man, aged in his 60s, and a woman, aged in her 70s, were found fatally stabbed inside the property.
“Post-mortem examinations will be held in due course. Formal identification awaits, however officers believe they know the identity of the two victims and their family are being supported by family liaison officers.
“Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating.
“A crime scene remains in place. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested in Slough on suspicion of murder at around 3pm on Friday, 12 July. He is being transferred to a London police station.”
