Driver who eluded police after his Ford Focus became stuck in mud has been apprehended.

A FLEEING DRIVER was left red-faced after his Ford Focus became stuck in the mud, prompting social media mockers to label him a “muddy idiot.”

The drowsy driver was apprehended by police after fleeing into a field in an attempt to elude armed officers.

He abandoned the Ford Focus, but was apprehended shortly after police discovered documents with his name and address inside the vehicle.

After chasing the driver through a boggy field in Abbey Hulton, Staffordshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning, Staffordshire Police tweeted pictures of the stranded vehicle.

“Firearms officers from (hashtag)Shift5North have had a vehicle pursuit in Abbey Hulton,” they wrote on the Staffsresponse Twitter page.

“The driver became stuck in a field and fled.

He kindly left all of his personal information for us to locate him inside the vehicle.”

“Not the wisest move on his part!” it concluded. “See you soon!”

Following his arrest, social media users mocked the driver.

“The world’s worst getaway driver?” wrote Nick Elson on Facebook.

“Someone should’ve gone to Specsavers,” John Aitken added.

“Or if you’re a farmer, you’ve probably driven a tractor

“A Ford Focus failed to stop for police on Barry Avenue in Bucknall at around 12.20am on Sunday (9 January),” a Staffordshire Police spokesperson said.

“Officers pursued the vehicle for a short time before discovering it abandoned in a field off Abbey Road in Abbey Houlton.”

“The vehicle has been seized, and searches for the driver are ongoing.”

“Anyone with information should call 101 or submit a report online, referencing incident number 008 from the 9th of January.”
