Double-decker bus bursts into FLAMES – firefighters battle to put out blaze

FIREFIGHTERS are battling to put out a massive blaze after a bus burst into flames in the heart of Birmingham.

Footage shared on social media showed the double-decker bus being swallowed by the fire.

Firefighters are seen trying to hose down the flames, with the blaze seemingly having mostly affected the upper floor.

It also showed how a part or the whole of the bus’s roof had been blown off at some stage.

The Twitter user who shared the clip said the blaze happened outside Digbeth Coach Station.

The witness, who uses the Twitter handle @LA_168_, said: “West Midlands bus on fire outside Digbeth Coach Station.

“Police cordoning off the area.

“Fire service doing a great job. Hopefully, no one was hurt.”

Daily Star Online has contacted West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) and West Midlands Police for comment.

It is unclear when the fire began, although the previous tweet was posted shortly after midnight on May 16.

WMFS has had a busy night so far, having attended multiple blazes.

The fire service sent four crews to a fire at a derelict factory unit in Cradley Heath late on Wednesday night.
