Beyoncé is not the only celebrity mom ensuring she gets trademark rights for her famous daughter. Actress Gabrielle Union and NBA husband Dwyane Wade are reportedly hoping to trademark their own daughter’s name, Kaavia James.
According to The Blast, the A-list couple is building a brand around her and their nickname for her, “Shady Baby.” The 4-month-old beauty already has a massive social media presence with over 540,000 followers on Instagram with her photos primarily showcasing her facial expressions.
Union and Wade, who married in 2014, reportedly want a brand of baby accessories, clothing, hair care products, and jewelry. The couple is said to have filed trademark applications for “Kaavia James” and “Shady Baby” earlier this month.
Several years ago, star performers Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z tried to trademark their daughter Blue Ivy’s name for everything from fragrances to baby rattles. They then did the same with the names of their twins, Sir Carter and Rumi Carter.
And according to TMZ, applications have been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for trademark protection for the names of some of the Kardashian/Jenner children. It was revealed last month that Kim Kardashian-West applied to register the names of her children North, Saint, and Chicago West. Kylie Jenner also sought to register the name of her daughter with Travis Scott, Stormi Webster, and Khloe Kardashian registered the name of her child, True Thompson.
