Despite rumors of a royal crackdown, Princess Anne is set to be an “essential part” of the Firm.
Despite rumors of a slimmed-down monarchy, PRINCESS ANNE appears to be an “essential part” of the Royal Family during the next reign, according to a royal author.
According to royal commentator Ian Lloyd, Princess Anne has become one of the Firm’s pivotal members during Queen Elizabeth II’s record-breaking reign, and she will likely continue to be a key figure when Prince Charles is crowned King.
“She has a good relationship with Charles,” the author of The Duke: A Life in 100 Chapters told this website.
“The Prince of Wales is close with Anne,” he continued.
She will be an important member of the Royal Family during the next reign, I believe.”
The royal expert continued by talking about Prince Charles’ rumored plans to slim down the Royal Family.
“Charles’s goal is to have just his son William, Kate, and his three grandchildren in a few years,” Mr Lloyd said.
“Then there are people like Princess Anne, Edward, and Sophie,” she says.
For more than a decade, there have been rumors about Prince Charles’ plans for the Firm once he becomes King.
As the Diamond Jubilee in 2012 came to an end, the rumored shape of the future Royal Family was first seen.
Only the royals closest to the throne – Prince Charles and Prince William with their consorts, and Prince Harry – were present on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the time.
Prince Harry would no longer be considered by Charles if these streamlining plans become a reality, given the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure as senior royals.
Reducing the number of Royal Family members who perform official duties would lower the Firm’s costs by lowering the number of people who receive funding from the Sovereign Grant.
A smaller number of senior royals could also help modernize the Firm and make its public relations strategy more agile.
Another European monarch recently decided to deprive many members of his family of their HRH titles.
In October 2019, Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf announced his decision to expel all of his grandchildren from the Royal House, with the exception of those born to the future Queen, Crown Princess Victoria.
“His Majesty The King has decided on changes to,” said an official statement at the time.
