Richard Madeley, who was forced to leave I’m A Celeb due to Covid-19 restrictions following a hospital dash, will still be paid for his time on the show.
Richard Madeley, who appeared on I’m A Celeb, is said to have received his £200,000 fee for appearing on the show.
The Good Morning Britain host was brought to hospital in the early hours of the morning after feeling sick, and he left the show lineup on Thursday.
Richard, 65, has stated that he is in good condition following the scare, but he is unable to return to the camp due to Covid requirements.
His departure was disclosed earlier on Thursday in a statement in which he detailed the events that led to his departure.
According to The Sun, the popular journalist will receive his £200,000 payment after being forced to quit due to medical reasons.
Richard stated in his statement, ” “I became unwell in the early hours of the morning and was rushed to the hospital as a precaution.
“I broke the Covid’bubble by leaving the camp, and as a result, I’ve got to leave the castle and all the great celebrity.
“Obviously, I’m disappointed to be going so soon, but the safety of all of the campmates comes first. I’m very enthusiastic to follow their voyage, and even more so now that they’ll be at a location that’s a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.” Richard thanked everyone for making his time in Gwrych Castle possible, calling it a “unforgettable journey.”
“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but utterly fantastic experience — I’ve met some wonderful people and had the time of my life,” he continued.
ITV, the show’s creators, issued the following statement: “Richard has regretfully had to leave the show due to our rigorous Covid regulations, as he is no longer in the bubble that the celebrities establish when entering the castle.
“He’s been a fantastic campmate, and we appreciate him being a part of our series.”
Despite rumors that DJ Locksmith from Rudimental would join the camp to replace Richard, it has been verified that no one will take his position.
Meanwhile, Chloe Madeley, the presenter’s daughter, confirmed to her fans on Instagram early on Thursday that her father was in good condition but “livid” about his departure.
