Despite Biden’s ‘dagger to democracy’ claim, Trump ‘wants revenge’ by regaining the presidency.

Professor Bill Grover, a US politics expert, told This website that Donald Trump wants “revenge” by regaining the White House in 2024.

As the US marked a year since Mr Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol building in an attempt to prevent Congress from confirming his election defeat, Joe Biden claimed his predecessor Donald Trump held a “dagger to the throat of America” and said democracy faced an existential threat.

“As a violent mob approached the Capitol, he attempted to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.”

“However, they were unsuccessful.”

President Biden went on to say that the greatest threat to American democracy since the Civil War still loomed ahead.

“At this point, we must decide what kind of nation we will be,” he said.

“The lies that fuelled the rage and insanity we witnessed in this place haven’t gone away.”

Mr. Trump spent last summer giving rallies to his base, continuing to peddle the false narrative that the 2020 election would be rigged and stolen.

His supporters are now planning events and raising funds for initiatives aimed at ensuring that the former President has a say in the upcoming midterm elections in the United States.

Prof Grover, a US political expert, believes that Mr Trump is likely to be setting the stage for another presidential run in 2024, and that the former business magnate is vengeful.

“Trump still wields tremendous power,” he said, “and the fact that some secretly don’t want him to run again makes sense to me when the party needs to move on.”

“He’s preventing the party from becoming younger.”

“I believe Trump is impeding that process because he’s there, and he wants ego gratification and revenge.”

“He’s still peddling the ‘big lie,'” says the author.

It’s still a huge topic.”

The deadly event in Washington, DC last year was the deadliest attack on the Capitol since it was burned down by British forces in 1814.

Despite this, Mr Trump continues to promote the “big lie,” which Prof Grover believes will be the “centerpiece” of his campaign if he runs for office in 2024.
