‘Death on the spot’: A woman was mauled by a tiger after failing to notice the cage was open.
A WOMAN was mauled by a Tiger in a safari park and died as a result.
The woman died “on the spot,” according to authorities, after walking into the creature’s enclosure without realizing the cage door was open.
The woman has been recognized as one of the cleaners and maintenance staff at the Chile safari park.
The park is located in Rancagua, about 60 miles from Santiago, Chile’s capital.
The animals move around freely, much like on a safari.
The large cats roam freely as visitors drive through the park.
The animals are kept in enclosures when the park is closed and the personnel is at work.
The woman entered the tiger’s enclosure without realizing the cage door was open.
She was “immediately attacked” by the tiger.
According to police, she died as a result of cuts to her neck.
“She didn’t realize the animal’s cage door was open and was quickly attacked by this tiger, killing her on the spot,” said Rancagua police officer Williams Espinoza.
The police have yet to identify the victim.
The Siberian tiger’s condition is also unknown.
The District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into whether a third party was responsible for the terrible death, according to Jorge Mena.
The large cat park has been closed while the police investigate.
A request for response from the Rancagua Safari Park has gone unanswered.
