Covid LIVE: Fears of ‘vaccine escape’ erupt after the discovery of a new’super variant’ with 32 mutations.

Due to an “extremely high” number of mutations, a new Covid variant may be immune to vaccines.

Although the B1.1.529 strain has been discovered in South Africa, Botswana, and Hong Kong, scientists are concerned that more infections will spread due to international travel.

Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College London, discovered the new variant, which has 32 spike mutations. The mutations are “really awful” and “horrific,” according to Peacock.

Turkovac, a domestically developed Covid vaccine, has applied for emergency approval, according to Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

He went on to say that he hoped the vaccine would be available by the end of the year.

Turkovac is nearly finished, according to Koca, and it will be Turkey’s first Phase III clinical research project.

Turkey has already administered nearly 120 million doses of vaccines developed by Sinovac of China and PfizerBioNTech of the United States, with more than 50 million receiving two doses.

Booster shots have also begun to be given.

“I’d like to share some good news with our people: our domestic inactive Covid-19 vaccine Turkovac has applied for emergency approval as of today,” Koca said.

France is expected to announce that all adults will receive Covid booster shots, as well as new rules to combat the virus.

At a press conference scheduled for 12 p.m., Health Minister Olivier Veran is expected to announce stricter rules on face masks and health pass checks.

The French health regulator, the Haute Autorite de Sante, has endorsed booster Covid vaccination shots for those aged 18 and up.

For the second day in a row, health officials reported over 30,000 new infections, a sequence not seen since late April.

Nearly 1,500 people are being treated for Covid in intensive care.

In 74 percent of local authority areas, Covid cases have increased, raising fears of new restrictions in the run-up to Christmas.

According to the Government’s coronavirus dashboard, the total number of Covid cases in the UK over the last seven days was 288,784, equating to a rate of 430.5 per 100,000 people.

Infection rates in four UK regions have been found to be higher than the national average, but is your area one of them?
