Covid has left a 34-year-old ‘vaccine skeptic’ fighting for his life in the ICU.
COVID has left a young man who is a “vaccine skeptic” struggling for his life in the ICU.
Matthew Keenan, according to a senior medic caring for him, was a self-described “vaccine skeptic” before contracting coronavirus. His outlook has completely changed since he was admitted to the hospital due to the seriousness of his condition, and he wishes he could “turn back time.”
According to Yorkshire Live, a respiratory consultant at Bradford Royal Infirmary, Leanne Cheyne, tweeted a photo of Matthew receiving oxygen at the hospital on Sunday.
“Matthew has agreed for me to share his story,” the senior doctor stated.
“I’m 34 years old, a football coach, and a father. He was a self-proclaimed vaccine skeptic until he met Covid, and if he could go back in time, he would.
“The majority of our sickest patients are unvaccinated and under the age of 40. Matthew is in a life-or-death situation… Keep yours. #GrabAJab #GetVaccinated.”
Mr. Keenan’s friends reacted to the tweet with a barrage of “get well soon” comments.
“Stay strong Keenan, you can beat this,” one said.
“Keep fighting, Keenan lad,” said another.
Others applauded the Bradford man for allowing his experience to be told.
“This is really great that this patient has allowed you to spread the news about how crucial it is to receive our Covid vaccinations,” one woman said.
“Hopefully, as a result of his experience, others will see sense.”
“I don’t like that we have to show a picture of someone struggling for their life to urge people to get vaccinated,” a second added.
“Pay attention to the science. Vaccinate yourself today. While you still have the opportunity, take use of it. You can end up in the hospital with Covid while you wait because you’re afraid.”
