Covid cases in the UK are on the rise as a result of a new vaccine plea, as the country approaches a dismal death milestone.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 29,312 new coronavirus infections have been reported in the United Kingdom, bringing the total number of deaths to an all-time high.
The new tally is up from 21,681 the day before, according to government statistics. According to data, the daily death rate was 119, which is lower than the 138 reported on Tuesday.
This brings the total number of people who have died to 130,000.
According to the figures, 46.9 million people have received their first vaccine dosage and 38.7 million have been fully vaccinated.
Professor Jonathan Van-Tam recently issued a dire warning, prompting the release of these new figures.
The deputy chief medical officer expressed his desire to see the vaccination program for teenagers begin in a couple of weeks.
His remarks came as the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunization (JVCI) advised that individuals aged 16 to 18 be given an injection.
“Children will return to colleges and sixth forms in September, and in Scotland, little sooner, so there is no time to waste,” Mr Van Tam said.
“Now that we have the JCVI’s recommendation for initiating the first dose among 16 and 17-year-olds, I want us to move as quickly as we can.
“I don’t think it’ll be tomorrow, and I don’t think it’ll be early next week.”
“The NHS has been kept informed of what is being considered for JCVI; it has been prepared for numerous choices for many weeks now, and I would expect this program to begin in a matter of weeks,” he continued.
The announcement marked a shift in policy from a month earlier, when they cautioned against inoculating teens.
The amended guideline was based on changes in the spread of the disease among younger populations and the most recent safety data available, according to the organization.
“After carefully reviewing the current results, we advise that healthy 16 to 17-year-olds be administered a first dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine,” stated Wei Shen Lim, the JCVI’s COVID-19 Chair.
“We’ll get advice on when to give the second vaccine dosage later.”
The recommendations have already been adopted by Health Secretary Sajid Javid, who has “asked the NHS to prepare to vaccinate individuals who are eligible as soon as possible.”
“In England alone, COVID-19 vaccines have saved over 60,000 lives and avoided 22 million infections,” he claimed.
“They’re constructing.” Brinkwire Summary News
