Coronation Street’s Sam Robertson almost quit as job ‘overtakes your life’

CORONATION Street actor Sam Robertson recently returned from a break.

Sam Robertson recently returned to Coronation Street from a break and signed onto the soap for another year.

But the actor, who plays Adam Barlow, has confessed he almost packed it all in because the job “overtakes your life”.

It wasn’t until a trip to Sydney to watch his best friend get married that Sam realised he really did want to stick with Corrie.

He told the Sun Online: “This job overtakes your life, you can’t leave it at the door on a Friday night and that was getting to me. I wasn’t enjoying that aspect of the intrusion. I needed the head space to decide if I wanted that long term.

“If I hadn’t had that break my mind space could be completely different.”

The actor, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, explained that while he was in Australia, he realised it wasn’t just a holiday.

He went on: “When I was over there this year I realised to stop being silly, I’ve got a really great job in Britain and my life isn’t too bad at all if I could just deal with the intrusion. I’ve realised it’s a mindset.”

Sam, 33, explained that he’s realised that the intrusion from fans is “part of the job”.

He said he’s accepted that he won’t be able to enjoy a night out with friends without someone asking for a selfie.

In the past, that would have been a big deal to him, though it seems he’s since re-evaluated things.

Now, with Adam back in Weatherfield, it seems the Barlows and Platts – the soap’s two most iconic families – could be set for a union.

Adam is dating Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and when quizzed on whether wedding bells could be on the horizon, Sam added: “Absolutely.”

It seems now would be the perfect time for a union of families, as David Platt is locked up and Gail Platt has fled to Bangkok.

Coronation Street continues Monday on ITV.
