CORONATION Street star Sam Aston has been spotted for the first time since becoming a dad as he headed to his local gym.
On Monday, the 27-year-old actor announced that he and wife Briony had welcomed son Sonny on 11 August – six weeks earlier than planned.
The besotted new parents shared a sweet snap of themselves cradling their little boy, with Sam tenderly kissing his newborn on the head.
But it appears he has finally been able to tear himself away from his bundle of joy, showing no desire to skip the gym and get a dad bod after becoming a father.
Sam looked tired as he stepped out of his car in a khaki hoodie, baseball cap, and tracksuit bottoms.
Yoga instructor Briony was also quick to keep active after giving birth, previously sharing a video of herself doing yoga with Sonny when he was just two weeks old.
In the video, the 25-year-old blonde is dressed in burgundy leggings and a black top, having maintained her trim figure during pregnancy.
She rocked Sonny as she gently placed him on the waiting mat and gave him a kiss on the head before getting to work with a variety of yoga poses.
Announcing his son’s arrival, Sam previously told fans: “Welcome to the world little man. Our little ray of sunshine.
“Sonny James Aston 💙”
Briony shared the same snap to her own account, adding extra details in her caption, which read: “Sonny Aston✨
“He calmly entered our world 6 weeks early on 11.08.20 at 5lbs 7oz and we couldn’t be more in love💙✨”
Sam confirmed that he and Briony were expecting their first child back in May, before revealing they are having a baby boy.
They previously shared that they had only been trying for a baby for four or five weeks before falling pregnant.
Speaking to OK! Sam – who plays Chesney in the ITV soap – said: “We’re having a boy! It was a massive surprise when we found out, as there are loads of girls in our families, so we were adamant we were having a girl.”
Briony added: “We found out the day before lockdown. Sam couldn’t come with me because of the current rules, so I got the consultant to write the sex on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope and we both then sat in the car and opened it together. We were over the moon.”
Sam, who has eight siblings, said one child is “perfect for now” and, referencing his Corrie alter-ego, joked: “I’m glad it’s not quads.”
Sam and Briony, got married last year, two years after announcing their engagement.
They exchanged their vows – and did a yoga-themed first dance – in front of friends, family members and his soap co-stars at Stock Farm in Cheshire.
He and on-screen partner Gemma Winter have their hands full with baby quadruplets, and Sam admitted handling babies on set has given him more confidence for when his own child is born.
Sam was just 10 years old when he joined the ITV soap, and has grown up on screen.
