Coleen Rooney ready ‘for the fight of her life’ against Rebekah Vardy in Wagatha Christie legal battle

COLEEN Rooney is preparing for the “fight of her life” against Rebekah Vardy in the upcoming Wagatha Christie legal battle.

Pals in her corner say she is training like screen legend Rocky Balboa for the eagerly-awaited High Court bout with Vardy.

They say Coleen, 34, is keen to deliver a knockout blow – but could be persuaded to settle the case if the terms are right.

A source close to the explosive libel case said: “There’s no way she’s throwing in the towel.

“She’s training like Rocky for this trial and regardless of the punches thrown at her she’s going to keep going.

“She’s focused on what she needs to do and getting ready for the fight of her life.”

Coleen, wife of England and Manchester United legend Wayne, has still not delivered her defence to 38-year-old Becky’s libel case against her.

One source said the delay was not “unusual” and that her defence would be forthcoming.

But a source close to Coleen says she will not rule out settling the case before it goes to trial if both parties can agree.

The source added: “You can’t obviously rule it out moving forward but the Vardy’s have made it clear they don’t want to settle for the time being.

“So as things stand Coleen will make a defence at some point.”

It comes after Becky, missus to Wayne’s former England teammate and Leicester City striker Jamie, 33, delivered her opening salvo last month.

In her writ Becky said she was left feeling suicidal after mum-of-four Coleen publicly accused her of leaking stories about her and Wayne, 34, to the media.

Becky says she had to call cops and pull her “bullied” eldest daughter out of school after the bombshell claims on social media.

She received death threats in the wake of the row and had trolls branding her a “grass”, “b***h” and “snake”.

Her stress was so bad she “had concerns about losing her baby or going into early labour”, her lawyers say.

Mum-of-five Becky insists she was not the source for a series of stories published in The Sun.

But Coleen has told pals she will prove her case in court – even if it means taking a few blows along the way.

One source said: “Coleen is a fighter – always has been. She doesn’t ever give up and will fight to the very end if she believes she is right.”

Coleen went to Twitter and Instagram last October to set out how one of her friends had allegedly been leaking stories about her.

She wrote: “After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be for various reasons, I had a suspicion.”

Coleen claimed she had posted a series of false stories via her Instagram account with restricted access to see if they appeared in the media, which they did.

All the stories which were subsequently printed in The Sun were put to Coleen’s representatives for comment.

Her post said the fake stories had only been viewed by one person and ended dramatically: “It’s … Rebekah Vardy’s account.”

They included stories about Coleen apparently looking into gender selection treatment in Mexico because she wanted a baby girl, a story about Coleen returning to TV and a story about her new basement flooding.

Wayne is said to fear details of their private life being revealed in court as part of the fight but backs wife Coleen.

Becky is claiming aggravated damages for libel along with costs.

She also wants an injunction against Coleen and her team from publishing the claims again.
