Children are dying at an alarming pace as the Delta form of Covid wreaks havoc on the unvaccinated.

CHILDREN are dying at an alarming rate from coronavirus, according to statistics from Indonesia and Germany, which demonstrated how the Delta variety is wreaking havoc on under-18s.

Previously assumed to be the least impacted by coronavirus-related serious disease, statistics from Indonesia and Germany revealed that children under the age of 18 are dying at an alarming rate. It comes as the government considers whether or not to vaccinate children as young as 12 years old before schools reopen.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 1,272 children have died from Covid, according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

As the more contagious Delta variety, which first arose in India, spread across the country, the number of cases and deaths increased.

Under-18s account for about 1% of Indonesia’s total Covid death toll, according to statistics released on August 24, far higher than the global average of 0.3 percent.

Since the outbreak began, more than half a million Indonesian children have tested positive, according to official estimates.

After rolling out vaccinations at the start of the year, Indonesia approved immunizations for over-12s in June.

Doctor Eric Feigl-Ding, a public health expert and Senior Fellow at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, DC, shared statistics on Twitter revealing that Covid cases are considerably more common in youngsters aged 5 to 14 than in adults aged 60 to 79.

“Cases are out of control in Germany among children aged 5 to 14,” he stated.

“Per capita, the frequency of Covid-19 is much higher than among the elderly.

“However, politicians all around the world have decided to ignore children and simply mass-infect children without vaccines. Shameful.”

According to data compiled by Statista from Germany’s health ministry up to August 2021, persons aged 35-39 had the highest cases.

In Germany, there were 280,036 cases in children aged 5 to 14 years old and 288,598 cases in people aged 80 and up.

“Unvaccinated schoolteacher with #DeltaVariant disseminated the coronavirus to half of the kids in a classroom, very briefly without a mask—triggering an outbreak that infected 26 people,” Dr Feigl-Ding said on August 30, citing a CDC report.

According to the CDC study, the instructor first developed symptoms on May 19 but continued to work for two days before being tested.

The teacher was found to be infected with the coronavirus on May 23, and 12 of the children were found to be infected during the next few days.
