Chelsea news: Guillem Balague provides major update on Eden Hazard to Real Madrid

CHELSEA star Eden Hazard is not being pursued by Real Madrid.

That’s according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

The Belgian was heavily linked with a switch to the Bernabeu during the summer as Real sought a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

But a move didn’t materialise and Hazard stayed at Chelsea, where he has impressed in a stunning start to the season.

The 27-year-old is thriving in an attacking system under new boss Maurizio Sarri and he’s scored eight times in his opening 10 matches.

“It’s a win-win situation for Hazard.”

Real have struggled in recent weeks and reports have suggested they could revisit a move for Hazard in January.

However, Balague insists the La Liga giants have other targets in mind.

“We know Hazard wants to go to Real Madrid,” he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“It’s his dream, a real dream and Real Madrid considered and thought about it in the summer.

“But they were told no price for Hazard and they did not insist.

“It was one of the calls that they made in terms of what to do if Neymar wasn’t coming.

“Eventually they decided not to go for anybody and to reinforce the squad that’s there already and try and get the best out of that.

“I feel like this is a year in which they thought: ‘Okay Gareth Bale here’s your chance to show what you can do’.

“Marco Asensio can be given time to grow, (Karim) Benzema can give us goals but if it goes really bad it’s not a total disaster.

“They’ve come from winning the Champions League four times in five years.

“But is Hazard a target for next season?

“It’s been reported that Real Madrid will go for him in the winter, in January.

“I don’t believe that’s the case.

“What’s quite clear is they’ve still got Neymar and I will add (Kylian) Mbappe, one of the two as their main target next season.

“Hazard will insist but he’s in a win-win situation of course because if say Real Madrid eventually don’t go for him then what you’ve got is him signing possibly a new contract.

“Chelsea have put it on the table, a very lucrative one so it’s a win-win situation for Hazard.

“But as I said, not in January for Real Madrid and he’s not the top target right now in the summer.”
