Chelsea hero Dennis Wise tips shock star to fire Blues to Premier League title – EXCLUSIVE

CHELSEA can win the Premier League this season if Alvaro Morata can rediscover his goalscoring touch.

That’s according to Blues legend Dennis Wise.

Chelsea endured a disappointing final campaign under Antonio Conte last term, finishing fifth in the table, failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Despite enjoying a stunning start following his £58m summer move from Real Madrid, Morata struggled to maintain his form and eventually lost his place in the team.

The 25-year-old was omitted from Spain’s World Cup squad and his time in west London looked to be over after just one season amid transfer speculation linking him with AC Milan.

“f we can get Morata getting his shooting boots on then why not?”

But Morata has vowed to stay and fight for his place under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

The Italian has brought in ex-Chelsea striker Gianfranco Zola to work with his forwards as he looks to guide the Blues back into the top four.

And Wise insists that if Morata can regain his prolific touch, there’s no reason why Sarri can’t lead them to Premier League glory.

“Why not?” he exclusively told Starsport when asked if Chelsea could win the title.

“If we can get Morata getting his shooting boots on then why not? We’ve got some quality, we really have got some quality.

“I think with Gianfranco he will help Morata in maybe being able to get to that top level.

“As in regarding getting to that 20, 25 goal tally because I think that is really important for Chelsea to get to that.

“I wouldn’t write them off for sure. But I think if you want to be looking at where Chelsea want to be, they’ll want to be getting into the Champions League.

“That will be their first thought process and if they can actually compete and actually win this, only time will tell over the course of the season.

“Have they got the capabilities? Yes they have got the capabilities because they’ve got the quality.

“And it’s about that quality at the end of the day. Producing, that’s what it’s about.

“Last season unfortunately Morata only got 11 league goals. It’s not enough, is it?

“We need more, we need more goals and I think that’s important. You look at the goals against, we’re competing with most of them, the top five teams. Goals conceded, we’re close.

“That’s important that end but it’s also winning the difficult games. When we’ve had those opportunities to win it and we haven’t taken those opportunities.

“We’ve got to be a bit more clinical in the forward line.”

Chelsea have strengthened well this summer, splashing out £130m on Jorginho and Kepa Arrizabalaga, as well as adding Rob Green and Mateo Kovacic.

Sarri will be hoping to get off to a winning start as Blues boss today as they kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Huddersfield (3pm).

Dennis Wise was speaking at the 2018 FA & McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards, celebrating grassroots heroes across England.
