Centrelink, Medicare access changes in Vic

Victorians accessing Australian government support can no longer visit Centrelink or Medicare in person.

Federal Government Services Minister Stuart Robert says Victorians who need to access payments are urged to use Services Australia’s online and call service options instead.

A step-by-step guide to applying for payments is available at and information about online and self-service options is available at or 136 240.

People are being told to confirm their identity and get a customer reference number online too.

The centres will remain open but only for the most vulnerable in the community, population limits will be put in place and anyone visiting must wear a face covering.
