In the video, Marinakis is seen strolling down the VIP steps while wearing a white shirt. He then looks directly at Dimitriadis and seems to whisper something in his ear.
During the interaction, the Greek billionaire appeared furious and had a torn shirt.
According to local sources, a heated argument between opposing political and athletic groups during the high-profile game was the cause of the altercation.
One of Greece’s most contentious businesspeople, Marinakis has interests in sports, media, and shipping.
In addition to owning Alter Ego Media and founding Capital Maritime & Trading Corp, he is the owner of several football teams, notably Olympiacos in Greece and Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League.
However, he has frequently been involved in court battles and football scandals.
He was most notoriously accused of coercing referee Petros Konstantineas into fixing a match in 2012 and then firebombing his bakery when he refused.
According to the prosecution, Marinakis planned the operation and gave the order to explode Konstantineas’ bakery in order to intimidate and exact revenge on the recalcitrant referee.
He was found not guilty in 2021.
He was connected to a heroin smuggling case in 2018 but was eventually exonerated.
In 2022, after a phone spyware incident, Dimitriadis resigned as the prime minister’s advisor.
