Cat rescued after thrown from car in Syd

A cat has been critically injured after it was thrown from a moving car on Sydney’s northern beaches, with police searching for the culprit.

Officers were told the feline was thrown from the front passenger window of a dark sedan driving on Barrenjoey Rd at Newport just after 5.30am on Friday.

Another driver stopped to help the cat. A passerby took it to a local vet, where police said it will undergo surgery.

Officers are keen to speak with anyone who was on Barrenjoey Rd, near Cecil Rd, at the time who may have information about the incident or dashcam footage.
