Following the coldest night of the winter so far, temperatures in the UK could drop to as low as -15C on Thursday.
According to the latest map from The Weather Outlook, temperatures will be well below freezing across the UK on Thursday morning, with -15C possible in the Scottish glens.
On Thursday, a band of sleet, snow, and hail is expected to hit parts of the UK, disrupting travel and causing power outages.
On Thursday and Friday, the Met Office issued three separate yellow snow and ice warnings for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England.
The difference between the cold weather arriving from the and reaching ground that has been warmed by the unseasonably warm temperatures recorded over the new year, according to Met Office spokesperson Grahame Madge.

A yellow snow and ice warning has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Northern Ireland, northern England, and Scotland.
From 8 p.m. on Thursday until 11 a.m. on Friday, a tornado warning is in effect.
The Met Office has warned that sleet, hail, and snow are likely to cause travel disruption.
Power outages and isolated lighting strikes are also possible, according to the report.
The Met Office has forecasted a chilly start to the day on Thursday.
It goes on to say that rainy and windy weather will arrive later on Thursday, with snow on the northern hills.
