Blue singer Lee Ryan banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding twice in three months

BLUE star Lee Ryan has been slapped with a driving ban after being caught speeding twice in three months.

The singer, 37, was first caught doing 85mph in a Mercedes on the M1 motorway near Sheffield in May last year.

He was then clocked speeding at 58mph in a 50mph zone in Eltham, South London, less than 12 weeks later.

Ryan, who appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, failed to respond to police about who was driving.

The pop star was absent from a hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today and was not represented.

The hearing was told Ryan only found out it was taking place when he read it in the press yesterday.

An email was then sent to the court officials confirming he would plead guilty to all three charges – having already admitted speeding in Sheffield.

The message, from his manager, explained Ryan is out of work due to coronavirus and is not scheduled for any appearances until May next year.

Ryan, who already had nine points on his licence, was banned from driving for six months and hit with a £120 fine.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, from Twickenham, South West London, was also told to pay costs of £142.

Chair of the bench Richard Standen told the court: “He has been given credit for pleading guilty.”

Ryan was previously banned from getting behind the wheel for two years in 2014 after he was spotted driving a pal’s Audi erratically in the early hours of the morning.

He was arrested for drink-driving when he refused to let cops breathalyse him after being caught during the incident in Ealing, West London.

Ryan then launched into a foul-mouthed rant while in custody and urinated in his cell.

He was fined £3,325 after admitting failing to provide a specimen and causing £120 of criminal damage to his prison cell.
