Biden gaffe: US president says there are “350 million Americans” – 20 million more than the entire population.
In an embarrassing gaffe, Joe Biden overestimated the number of fully vaccinated US people during a news conference.
The US President, 78, stated during an address from the White House that 350 million Americans have got the vaccine.
“Well over – I’ll recall myself of the number — 350 million Americans have already been vaccinated. After glancing through his notes, Mr. Biden stated, “They’re doing fine.”
The population of the United States is 331 million people, according to the most recent census in April.
However, about 350 dosages have been given out. It’s probable that this number was mentioned in the President’s notes.
According to the most recent statistics, 166 million people in the United States have been fully vaccinated, accounting for roughly half of the population.
The Delta variety is on the rise among the unvaccinated in the country, and recent statistics reveal that the unvaccinated account for the majority of Covid hospitalizations and deaths.
“This is a vaccine-preventable pandemic. As a result, we need to vaccinate more people,” Mr Biden added.
“Today, about 400 people will die because of the Delta variant in this country — a tragedy because virtually all of these deaths are preventable if people had gotten vaccinated.
“However, 10 months ago today, approximately 4,000 people died from COVID-19 on the same day — 4,000 vs 400.
“This demonstrates how far we’ve come in terms of protecting ourselves from the worst of the new Delta COVID-19 wave.”
The President of the United States is noted for making periodic verbal gaffes when speaking.
Mr. Biden has previously made light of his penchant of making mistakes, joking, “I am a gaffe machine.”
