‘Better out of EU!’ enraged French fishermen lash out at Macron as France’surrenders’ to the United Kingdom.

EMMANUEL MACRON is facing a barrage of criticism from French fishermen after his government offered monetary compensation to those who will suffer financial losses as a result of the ongoing dispute with the United Kingdom.

Annick Girardin, France’s Maritime Minister, said on Thursday that Emmanuel Macron’s government has a plan in place for French fishermen who might lose out in a post-Brexit licenses dispute with the UK. The move enraged fishermen, who interpreted the announcement as proof that France was willing to give up the fight.

The announcement surprised Brittany’s president, Log Chesnais-Girard, who added, “the showdown is not lost, and the negotiations are not over.”

“I cannot hear that we are embarking on a massive plan to destroy boats,” he added.

“What message is the government sending?” said Olivier Le Nezet, the president of the Brittany regional fisheries committee.

“This message implies that being outside Europe is preferable to being inside!”

He also predicted “political bankruptcy” and a “chain of explosions” as a result of the move.

In an interview published on Friday, Ms Girardin denied “surrendering” to the UK.

“This does not imply that we surrender to the United Kingdom,” she added.

“However, if we are unable to obtain these licenses, which I cannot imagine, I must anticipate and address each issue.”

Macron is enraged at the United Kingdom over fishing licenses, and the French are turning against him.

“However, this does not mean we will stop fighting for fishermen’s rights.”

“All it means is that I’ll keep working alongside everyone.”

On Friday, President Macron said the row over fishing licenses is “playing with our nerves.”

A post-Brexit row has erupted over the granting of fishing licenses for the seas off British shores and in the area surrounding Jersey, with Paris threatening to bar British boats from landing their catches in French ports unless the row is resolved.

Mr Macron also stated on Friday that he will continue to fight for his fishermen.

“We will not abandon our fishermen,” Mr Macron told reporters.

While the European Commission brokered talks between the two sides, French threats were taken off the table, but Mr Macron.
